Recruiting lab members!

The lab of Dr. Dave Dallas at Oregon State University (dallaslab.org) is looking for new MS students, PhD students and post-doctoral scholars in Nutrition or Food Science (or related fields) that have an interest in human or bovine milk proteins or peptides. In particular, we are looking for people with skills in one or more of the following areas: mass spectrometry (proteomics, peptidomics, lipidomics or related), cell-based assays (intestinal cells, immune cells, bacterial interaction), ELISA, enzyme assays.

An example project for new researchers in the lab would be: 1) examining the survival of bioactive milk proteins across different treatments of donor human milk including holder pasteurization, high pressure processing, and UV-C processing; 2) examining the survival and digestion of these proteins in infants; 3) examining the effects of specific bovine proteins on human gut health; 4) examining digestion and absorption of bioactive bovine milk proteins. The lab is well equipped and has access to numerous state-of-the-art mass spectrometers, including an Orbitrap Fusion Lumos for the peptidomics work, at the Oregon State University Mass Spectrometry Facility (http://mass-spec.science.oregonstate.edu). The position is within the Nutrition Division in the School of Biological and Population Health Sciences in the College of Public Health and Human Sciences (http://health.oregonstate.edu/degrees/graduate/nutrition).

If you are interested, please contact Dave Dallas at dave.dallas@oregonstate.edu.
